The Regina Humane Society will be hosting its final pop-up microchipping event at the Al Ritchie Wellness Centre on Monday. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Pet Connection Outreach Program will provide complimentary microchipping for up to 140 pets. Free DocuPet identification tags, pet food, and essential supplies will also be provided. Pets must be in a carrier or safely secured on a leash. Microchipping is a permanent way to identify a pet, which can increase the chances of reuniting a lost pet with their family. Rebecca Carson, manager of education and outreach with the RHS, said she hopes this is the biggest microchip event of the year and an opportunity to connect families with resources to keep their pets safe. “For many people, their pets are an extremely important part of their family. By bringing services like microchips, identification tags, food, and essential supplies directly into the community, we can help remove some of the barriers families may face when caring for the pets they love,” she said. Monday’s clinic will be the last of four taking place during the summer, with one held each month beginning in June. So far this year, the RHS has placed 92 microchips through community outreach efforts. In addition, they have distributed over 10,000 kilograms of pet food and 2,600 essential supply items.
