RCMP in southern Saskatchewan are investigating after a pickup truck equipped with red and blue lights allegedly attempted to pull over a driver and conduct a traffic stop. Coronach RCMP say a pickup truck was driving erratically on Highway 36 near the intersection of Highway 13 at around 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 23. Officials say a driver spotted flashing red and blue lights in the truck’s front windshield and pulled over to the shoulder of the highway. However, the pickup truck did not stop, and sped away. The vehicle is described as a white or light-grey Ford F-150 with a crew cab, and the driver was described as a man with short grey hair. Coronach RCMP confirm the truck is not connected to any police agencies operating in the area. They also are reminding the public that impersonating a police officer is illegal. Anyone pulled over during a traffic stop are allowed to ask an officer for their badge and ID. Both will show the same regimental number and the ID card will have a photo. Police encourage anyone who believes they have encountered an imitation police vehicle to contact RCMP immediately. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Coronach RCMP.
