Peavey Mart has officially returned to Yorkton, as the chain slowly re-establishes its presence across Western Canada. The farm and ranch supply chain announced the opening in a post to social media on Sunday. “The paper is off the windows. The sign is up on the fence. The lot is full … you know what that means? Yorkton is open!” The return of Peavey Mart to Yorkton comes as the store’s Assiniboia location is also poised to reopen. Citing inflationary costs, supply disruptions and low consumer confidence, the chain entered creditor protection in January 2025 and closed all 90 of its stores nationwide, including 13 in Saskatchewan. An Alberta-based investment group bought the rights to the “Peavey Mart” name in April 2025 and announced later in August that it intended to make a comeback in some of the markets its predecessor operated. In December 2025, the chain opened four revamped stores across Alberta including in Spruce Grove, Westlock, Camrose and Lacombe. The original Peavey Mart opened in 1967 in Dawson Creek, B.C.
