Late season winter storm expected to deliver 5-10 cm of snow across Sask.

Those across southern Saskatchewan should be prepared for another blast of winter, as a storm system is making its way toward the province.

Just after 11 a.m. Sunday, a special weather statement was issued for much of southern and central Saskatchewan, including Regina, Yorkton, Estevan, Moose Jaw and Swift Current.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), a late season snowfall, moving west to east, is expected to deliver 5 to 10 centimetres of snow across the affected regions.

However, a heavier band of snowfall, resulting in 10 to 15 centimetres, is possible for Moose Jaw, Regina and the area leading southeast through Moosomin to the Manitoba border.

The storm system is forecast to reach western Saskatchewan Sunday evening and move eastward over the course of Sunday night.

The snowfall is expected to continue through the day on Monday before tapering off early Tuesday.
