Saskatchewan’s former Team Campbell has a new face after skip Jolene Campbell announced her retirement from women’s curling. “Jolene has made the decision to retire from women’s curling,” the team said in a social media post following this year’s Scotties. “Her leadership, passion, and commitment to the game have left a lasting mark on this team and the curling community. We are so grateful for everything she has poured into this sport.” Campbell made six appearances in the Scotties Tournament of Hearts over her long career. She skipped teams to two provincial pinnacle championships in 2016 and in 2026. At this year’s Scotties, the team missed the playoffs by just one game. “While this version of Team Campbell is coming to an end, the friendships, memories and pride we share will always remain. Thank you to our fans, sponsors, families, and everyone who supported us along the way,” the team added. Skylar Ackerman returns to skip new team In her place, 2024 provincial champion Skylar Ackerman has joined third Robyn Silvernagle and second Rachel Big Eagle to form a new team. The new team will also feature Mary Little as the lead, meaning Team Campbell lead Dayna Demmans is a free agent. They will begin play at the start of the 2026-27 curling season. “From Provincial Championships to competing at the Scotties, we’re looking forward to combining our experiences and skills to make this upcoming season unforgettable!” Team Ackerman’s social media says. In 2024, Ackerman became the youngest curler (22) to represent the province at the women’s national curling championships. She previously curled with Kaylin Skinner, Taylor Stremick and Ashley Thevenot. Team Ackerman has eight women’s national championship appearances between the four members.
