Saskatchewan’s First International House of Pancakes (IHOP) opened in Regina on Tuesday, a long-awaited announcement for pancake lovers. The dual IHOP and Applebee’s restaurant is located at 3698 Victoria Ave. East, the former home of a Chili’s and later the Rotisserie buffet restaurant. According to a post on its Instagram page, IHOP offered free pancakes for a year to the first 400 guests to visit the location. A long line of breakfast lovers could be seen outside the restaurant as of 10:30 a.m. The opening date was officially announced at the end of February. News of the restaurant first started circulating late in December, when a job posting for an Applebee’s-IHOP manager was issued. Social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram both started appearing around that time as well. An Applebee’s restaurant was previously located in south Regina while another in east Regina has been rebranded. This is the first dual IHOP / Applebee’s restaurant in Saskatchewan.
