Air quality warnings issued for parts of southeast Saskatchewan

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued an air quality warning for parts of southwest Saskatchewan including Swift Current and Moose Jaw, as smoke from wildfires continues to drift south.

On its website, ECCC is advising people to limit their time outdoors and to consider rescheduling outdoor activities.

By Monday evening, areas under the warning are expected to see an Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) rating of 10+ or “very high risk.”

As of Monday evening, Regina’s AQHI was listed as a “moderate risk.”

According to the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA), as of Monday afternoon there are 52 active wildfires in the province.
