OTTAWA - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Mariposa Meats are warning the public not to consume some Old Style brand products because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The affected Old Style products are smoked pork loin chops, 175 grams, UPC code 6 28292 80045 2, best before 09JA23 (Jan. 23) and thin sliced chicken breast, 350 grams, UPC 6 28292 50002 4, best before 09JA16 (Jan. 16).

The recalled products have been distributed in Ontario.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of the products.

Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled.

Consumption of food contaminated with this bacteria may cause listeriosis, a foodborne illness.

Listeriosis can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea.

Mariposa Meats of Mississauga, Ont., is voluntarily recalling the affected products.
