OTTAWA - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning the public not to consume Old Style brand Pastrami because the product may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The affected product is Old Style brand Pastrami sold in 375 gram packages bearing a best before date of 09JA15 (January 15, 2009) and a UPC code of 6 28292 50004 8.

This product has been distributed in Ontario.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

Consumption of food contaminated with this bacteria may cause listeriosis.

The manufacturer, Mariposa Meats of Mississauga, Ont., is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace.
