OTTAWA - A RCMP horse from Canada will be presented to the Queen today.

The eight-year-old black gelding has been renamed George -- after the Queen's grandfather, King George V.

The horse will be given to the Queen on the final night of the Royal Tattoo on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

The police service horse, which weighs 1,375 pounds, turns nine-years-old on Monday.

RCMP Sgt. Greg Cox says the gelding is related to three other horses that have been given to the Queen by the Mounties since 1969.

George, which has been part of the RCMP Musical Ride, is being presented by RCMP Commissioner William Elliott and Public Safety Minister Peter Van Loan.
