OC Transpo's first black employee: Winston Cumberbatch
In honor of Black History Month, Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe recognized Winston Cumberbatch for his historic role as the first Black employee at the Ottawa Transportation Commission, now known as OC Transpo. Joining the company in the 1960s, Cumberbatch shares his experience breaking barriers as a bus operator and his commitment to passenger safety during his 30-year career. The segment highlights his recent visit to City Hall where he was presented with a certificate of recognition for paving the way toward equality and representation in Ottawa's transit system.
