The Nick Smith Centre Pool in Arnprior was closed on Monday after a person died following a medical emergency at the facility. On its website, the Town of Arnprior says the incident involving a patron with no vital signs occurred in the pool in the late morning. “Our lifeguards responded immediately and were supported by recreation staff, firefighters, and paramedics. Despite extensive lifesaving efforts, the individual passed away,” the town said. “We thank all staff and emergency responders who assisted during this difficult situation and our thoughts are with the individual’s family.” Police say the death is not suspicious. The pool will remain closed for the rest of the day and will reopen Tuesday morning. Both arenas and the community hall reopened at 3:30 p.m.
