Travellers can now fly direct from Ottawa to Victoria. Porter Airlines launches its new non-stop route between the Ottawa International Airport and Victoria International Airport Thursday morning. Porter Airlines says the flight will depart Ottawa at 8:35 a.m., while the flight will depart Victoria at 11:50 a.m. The flight will operate four times a week initially, but Porter Airlines has announced it will fly direct from Ottawa to Victoria seven times a week during the peak summer period starting June 16. The flights will be operated on Porter’s 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. Porter Airlines says this is the only non-stop flight between Ottawa and Victoria. “This route is a natural connection between two cities that share deep national significance and tourism appeal,” Andrew Pierce, vice-president of network planning and reporting at Porter Airlines, said in a statement. “We’re proud to be the only airline offering non-stop service between Ottawa and Victoria, providing travellers with a more efficient and enjoyable way to move across the country.” Porter Airlines operates 20 nonstop routes from Ottawa. The launch of the Ottawa-Victoria flight comes weeks before Porter Airlines halts its non-stop service between Ottawa and Las Vegas for the summer. According to the Porter Airlines website, the last day for non-stop flights between Ottawa and Las Vegas is June 15.
