Woman taken to hospital after being assaulted by broken bottle in ByWard Market

A woman was taken to hospital after being assaulted with a broken bottle in the ByWard Market on Tuesday evening.

Ottawa paramedics spokesperson Nicolas Guertin says crews were called to the intersection of George Street and Cumberland Street shortly before 7:15 p.m.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, was treated and assessed on scene before being taken to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries, he said.

It’s unclear if any arrests have been made.

It’s the third similar incident reported at the same intersection in less than a week.

On Saturday, emergency crews found a man suffering from a laceration to his face and on Sunday, a man was treated for a serious head injury after an assault.
