One person is dead after a wrong-way crash on Highway 401 in the Kingston area. Emergency crews responded to reports of a head-on collision involving a tractor-trailer and pickup truck on the westbound lanes of Hwy. 401 just before 3 a.m. Friday. “Moments prior to the collision, the OPP had received a report of pickup truck travelling eastbound in the westbound lanes,” Ontario Provincial Police said in a media release. The Ministry of Transportation camera showed a badly damaged pickup truck in front of the transport truck on the highway. The driver of the pick-up truck was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the driver of the transport truck was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The westbound lanes of Highway 401 were closed for 10 hours between Highway 32 in Gananoque and Montreal Street in Kingston.
