Ottawa police’s traffic unit took another high-risk driver off the road on Wednesday, stopping an unlicensed motorist going 55 km/h over the speed limit in the east end. Police say officers stopped the 31-year-old driver at around noon for doing 155 km/h in the 100 km/h zone along Highway 174 near Trim Road. On Tuesday, police also caught a 29-year-old suspended driver with his third stunt driving charge, along with multiple other offences. That driver was caught doing 136 km/h in the posted 80 km/h zone along Limebank Road. “Let’s hope the third time’ll be the charm,” the Ottawa police traffic unit said in a post on X. Charges of stunt driving in Ontario come with an automatic 30-day driver’s licence suspension and a 14-day vehicle impound. Convictions can lead to further demerit points, suspensions, fines and jail time.
