Thunderstorm warning lifted for Ottawa Tuesday afternoon

A thunderstorm warning issued earlier in the afternoon has been lifted by Environment Canada.

A yellow warning - severe thunderstorm was issued at 5:20 p.m., saying a storm moving through the area was capable of producing up to quarter-sized hail and very heavy rain.

“Heavy rain may cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility,” the warning said.

The warning was lifted shortly before 6:30 p.m.

Environment Canada’s forecast calls for a chance of showers late this afternoon with the risk of a thunderstorm. High 24 C.

It will be clear tonight with a 30 per cent chance of evening showers. Low 14 C.

Wednesday will see a mix of sun and cloud with a 60 per cent chance of showers and the risk of a thunderstorm. High 23 C.

Showers are expected on Thursday. High 23 C.

The outlook for Friday calls for mainly cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of showers. High 22 C.

Saturday will be cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers. High 20 C.

The normal temperatures for this time of year are a high of 24 C and a low of 14 C.
