Hydro Ottawa says power has been restored after the lights went out for thousands of residents in the city’s west end on Monday afternoon. The utility says a loss of supply from the provincial grid left 31,086 customers without power shortly after 2:45 p.m. The blackout stretched in an area that included the Crystal Beach neighbourhood to the north, Carlington to the east, Barrhaven and Twin Elm to the south, and large parts of Stittsville and Kanata to the west. According to Hydro Ottawa’s outage map, nearly all customers had their power restored by about 4:15 p.m.
