You will be able to go behind the scenes of the Parliament Hill Centre Block rehabilitation project, the Supreme Court of Canada, the Ottawa Jail Hostel, Ottawa City Hall and several embassies and churches this weekend. The City of Ottawa hosts its annual Doors Open Ottawa on Saturday and Sunday, giving residents and visitors a chance to explore the capital’s culture, history and architecture. Dozens of Ottawa buildings will be open to the public during the 24th edition of Doors Open Ottawa, and admission is free to all buildings. One of the locations open to the public will be the Parliamentary Precinct rehabilitation project, which is currently underway to preserve the historic Centre Block. According to Public Services and Procurement Canada, you will be able to see the Parliament Welcome Centre construction activity up close, learn about local plants being considered in the landscape design and meet the decorative arts team and learn about the art of stone carving. You can visit 111 Wellington Street on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the tour. The City of Ottawa is hosting a Public Works Big Wheels Expo at 300 Coventry Road on Sunday between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., showcasing some of Ottawa’s big machinery and vehicles.
