Stolen transport truck driven into multiple vehicles in Gatineau, police say

Gatineau police say a 22-year-old man from Ottawa has been arrested after a stolen transport truck collided with multiple vehicles near the Casino du Lac-Leamy.

Gatineau police say a 22-year-old man from Ottawa has been arrested following a string of collisions near the Casino du Lac-Leamy on Thursday involving a stolen transport truck.

Police were called after a semi-trailer truck was stolen from a business in the Hull sector at around 5:45 p.m.

Officers quickly found the stolen truck on boulevard Saint-Joseph near the casino but police said the driver had already crashed into about 10 vehicles by then. Six people were taken to hospital as a precaution.

The driver was arrested after a brief foot chase. Roads in the area were closed for several hours Thursday night.

The Ottawa man is due in court Friday to face several vehicle theft-related and driving-related charges.
