Fabian Zetterlund will be spending three more seasons in Ottawa. The Senators announced the club signed the restricted free agent to a three-year, $12.8 million contract extension on Thursday. The 25-year-old Zetterlund was acquired by the Senators from the San Jose Sharks in March. The deal saw the Senators also acquire Tristen Robins and a 2025 fifth-round pick from San Jose in exchange for Noah Gregor, Zack Ostapchuk and a 2025 second-round pick. “We were pleased to acquire Fabian at the deadline last season and very happy to extend him for three more years,” Steve Staios, Senators president of hockey operations and general manager, said in a statement. “He brings commitment and work ethic with a scoring touch to our group.” Zetterlund had two goals and three assists in 20 games with the Senators, and had 17 goals and 19 assists in 64 games with San Jose this past season. Zetterlund will be the fifth-highest paid forward on the Senators roster for the 2025-26 season. Tim Stutzle is scheduled to earn $8.35 million next season while Brady Tkachuk will earn $8.2 million, Dylan Cozens will earn $7.1 million, and Drake Batherson will earn $4.975 million. This is the second signing of a restricted free agent by the Senators this off-season. Earlier this month, the Sens signed Tyler Kleven to a two-year contract extension worth $1.6 million a year. Kleven had four goals and six assists this past season.
