Scotiabank is closing its vault in Carp, the latest banking branch to close in the City of Ottawa. In a statement to CTV News Ottawa, Scotiabank confirmed its branch on Donald B. Munro Drive in Carp will closed on Oct. 21, 2026. “After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to relocate our services at our Carp branch to our branch at Terry Fox and Campeau,” Scotiabank said. “With client preferences changing, and more day-to-day banking being done digitally, we are continuing to evolve how we serve our clients and invest in areas that make it easier for our clients to bank with us in multiple ways. We are communicating this change to all affected clients and will be working with them to ensure a smooth transition.” The Scotiabank has been located in Carp for years. According to a Canadian Press article in 1947, a robbery at the Bank of Nova Scotia branch in Carp was the second-largest robbery in Canada at the time. The bonds and securities stolen amounted to $229,752. The Scotiabank branch at Terry Fox and Campeau Drive is located 13 kilometres from the former branch of Donald B. Munro Drive. In August, Scotiabank closed its branch on the campus of Carleton University. Scotiabank in Chesterville Scotiabank is also closing its branch in Chesterville, Ont. in May. A Scotiabank spokesperson said it made the decision to relocate its services from the Chesterville branch to its branch in Casselman. “We are communicating this change to all affected clients and will be working with them to ensure a smooth transition. Our teams in Chesterville and Casselman are committed to assisting all clients with any questions they may have.” TD Bank also recently closed its branch in Blackburn Hamlet.
