Scotiabank is closing its branch in Old Ottawa East this fall. The bank confirms to CTV News Ottawa it will close the branch on Main Street at Hawthorne Avenue on Nov. 4 and will relocate services to the branch at Bank Street and Gloucester Street. “With client preferences changing, and more day-to-day banking being done digitally, we are continuing to evolve how we serve our clients and invest in areas that make it easier for our clients to bank with us in multiple ways,” Scotiabank said in a statement. “We are communicating this change to all affected clients and will be working with them to ensure a smooth transition.” This is the latest in a series of bank branch closures in Ottawa and eastern Ontario. The Scotiabank branch at 388 Richmond Road closed in 2024 after being open for more than 100 years in Westboro. RBC is closing its branch at 236 Richmond Road in Westboro on Aug. 27. In February, it was announced the RBC branch on the campus of the University of Ottawa will close this spring as part of a planned redevelopment of the student centre. Last summer, Scotiabank closed its branch on the campus of Carleton University. Scotiabank is also closing its branch on Donald B. Munro Drive in Carp on Oct. 21, 2026. TD recently closed its branch in Blackburn Hamlet.
