A 27-year-old Kingston, Ont. suspect is facing charges after allegedly threatening a local gas station with a fake gun cut from a plastic container. Kingston Police say the suspect attended a gas station in the area of Concession Street and Bath Road at approximately 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and was observed with what appeared to be a white handgun. They began walking toward the station then paced out front while moving the object “across their face and neck, and eventually pointing it toward the glass at the front of the gas bar.” They then began to point the item at various objects on the property, police said in a news release. The suspect had left the area before police arrived but were able to locate the individual in the nearby area shortly after where officers were able to seize the object. Police say the individual assaulted an officer by spitting in their face during their arrest. Further investigation found they were bound by a release order with several conditions, which includes not possessing imitation firearms. The suspect was charged with harassment by threatening conduct, assaulting a peace officer and failing to comply with conditions of a release order. They were taken to Kingston Police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
