Police seized 33,894 illegal cigarettes and 528 tins of nicotine pouches from a business in Ottawa’s Centretown neighbourhood this week. The Ottawa Police Service says officers with the Neighbourhood Resource Team executed a Criminal Code search warrant at a business in the 600 block of Somerset Street West, near Bronson Avenue, on Thursday. “The investigation targeted the alleged sale of illegal nicotine and tobacco products,” police said. Police said officers also seized 47 vape devices and $4,000 in Canadian currency. A 44-year-old Ottawa man is facing charges of possession of proceeds obtained by crime and possession of unstamped tobacco products. “The Ottawa Police Service remains committed to addressing the unlawful sale of tobacco and nicotine products and to supporting community safety through proactive enforcement and regulatory compliance initiatives,” police said.
