Police in Gatineau, Que., are looking to speak with residents who may have had underwear stolen from their homes in the national capital region over the past few years as part of an investigation into alleged thefts by a handyman. In November 2025, police carried out a search warrant at a home in the Manoir des Trembles area in connection with two burglary cases. Police say during the operation, a 52-year-old Gatineau man was arrested. “The investigation continued following his court appearance, and further charges relating to similar offences were authorized by the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions,” police said in a media release. “These new complaints, combined with the evidence gathered, lead investigators to believe that the man may have victimized other people in the Manoir des Trembles neighbourhood, as well as elsewhere in Gatineau and Ottawa.” Police say the suspect offered his services as a “handyman” for various types of homes, “mainly those of women.” “After he had gained access to the victim’s homes, the victims reported finding underwear that did not belong to them and discovering that some of their own underwear was missing,” police said.
