Police investigating homicide in Barrhaven

The Ottawa Police Service is investigating the death of a woman in Barrhaven.

Police responded to a call in the 500 block of Ashbourne Crescent at 9:44 p.m. Thursday, near the intersection of Cambrian Road and Longfields Drive.

“One person is deceased and one subject is in police custody at this time,” police said in a media release at 11:22 p.m.

“There is no risk to public safety.”

No other information has been released.

Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson Marc-Antoine Deschamps tells CTV News Ottawa an adult woman was treated for traumatic injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deschamps said paramedics also treated an elderly woman at the scene for “traumatic injuries,” and she was transported to the Ottawa Hospital Trauma Centre in serious but stable condition.
