A 75-year-old woman died from her injuries after being struck by a car in Gatineau, Que. It was one of two collisions involving pedestrians in Gatineau over the weekend. Police say officers responded to a call for a collision involving a pedestrian on Gréber Boulevard, between Chemin de la Savane and Rue Louis-Riel, in the Gatineau sector shortly before 8 p.m. on Sunday. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with serious injuries and was pronounced dead in hospital. Police say the investigation continues into the cause of the collision, adding, “So far, no criminal element has been identified.” Meantime, a 64-year-old woman is in critical condition in hospital after being struck by a vehicle on Boulevard de l’Hôpital in the Gatineau sector shortly before 9 a.m. on Saturday. The victim was treated for serious injuries at the scene and transported to the hospital for treatment. Police say the preliminary investigation indicates the driver “committed an offence” under the Highway Safety Code by “entering the roadway without ensuring it was safe to do so.” The driver will receive a ticket with a $110 fine. “An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the collision. To date, no criminal element has been identified,” police said.
