Parts of O-Train Line 2 to be offline this weekend for work to address noise at track switches

OC Transpo says sections of O-Train Line 2 will be offline this Saturday and Sunday morning for work on track switches.

Service will be replaced by R2 buses in affected areas, a memo says.

From 6:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Line 2 trains will run between Limebank and Greenboro stations. R2 bus service will run between South Keys and Bayview. From 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sunday, trains will run between Limebank and Carleton stations, while R2 service will be in effect between Carleton and Bayview. Buses will run approximately every 12 minutes.

Director of Transit Service Delivery and Rail Operations, Troy Charter, said in a memo sent Monday that the work is meant to reduce the amount of noise that is made when trains pass over the switches.

“These specialized adjustments are sensitive to temperature, and spring is the ideal time to effectively complete this work. In addition, some planned inspections have also been scheduled during this period to minimize disruption to customers,” he said.

There will be no impact to Line 4 service between South Keys Station and the airport.
