Part of Laurier Avenue West will be closed this week for construction

Laurier Avenue West between Bronson Avenue and Bay Street will be temporarily closed this week for construction work, according to the City of Ottawa.

The closure will be in effect from Tuesday at 7 a.m. to Thursday at 10 p.m. The city says the duration may be extended to Friday at 10 p.m., depending on weather conditions.

City crews will be conducting road resurfacing and intersection construction work on Laurier Avenue West, says the city.

Drivers are asked to follow the signage that will be in place and to plan before hitting the road.

“Percy Street will be converted to two-way traffic from Laurier Avenue West to Gloucester Street to accommodate local access to resident parking garages,” the city said in a release.

The city says temporary detours will also be in place.

“A westbound detour will be in place from Bay Street to Albert Street, to Bronson Avenue. An eastbound detour will be in place from Slater Street to Bay Street (northbound traffic) or Lyon Street North (southbound traffic). Local traffic access will be maintained,” reads the release.

Pedestrian and cycling routs will remain open in the closed section.
