Ottawa tow truck driver charged for watching YouTube while driving

An Ottawa tow truck driver could face steep penalties for allegedly watching YouTube videos behind the wheel.

Ontario Provincial Police say an officer stopped the driver Monday on Highway 416.

A photo posted to social media by OPP shows what appears to be a tablet set up near the front passenger seat.

The driver was charged with distracted driving, which comes with a $615 fine, three demerit points and a three-day licence suspension upon conviction, police say.

It’s against the law in Ontario to use hand-held devices such as phones or electronic entertainment devices while driving.
