The Ottawa Titans have learned their opponent in their quest to secure the baseball team’s first Frontier League Championship Series victory in franchise history. The Evansville Otters defeated the Washington Wild Things 9-5 in the Midwest Conference Championship Series on Sunday evening. The Titans already secured their spot in the series on Friday after sweeping the New York Boulders. The Titans held a media conference on Sunday before the team hits the road for the first two games of the championship series. The team remains undefeated in the playoffs so far. “We’re excited. We’re super excited. The energy in the stadium on a strikeout in the first inning. Just feeling that and the game has barely even started – it’s unbelievable,” said Titans catcher Michael Fuhrman. The Titans set an attendance record on Friday night as over 8,000 fans packed the Ottawa Stadium and expects another energetic crowd when the teams face off at home later this week. “We know that the atmosphere is going to be phenomenal because the people of Ottawa know what’s happening and there’s a championship on the line,” said Martin Boyce, general manager of the Titans. Games 1 and 2 of the best-of-five series will be played in Evansville, Ind. on Tuesday and Wednesday. Game times are still to be determined. The teams will return to Ottawa on Friday for Game 3 at 7 p.m. Game 4 will be played at 7 p.m. on Saturday and Game 5 will start at 5 p.m. on Sunday at home if necessary. The Otters finished as the 2023 Frontier Legue runners-up after losing to the Quebec Capitales. The games are being streamed live on Rogers TV.
