The Ottawa Police Service is seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect connected to an alleged sexual assault that happened under the Mackenzie King Bridge over the weekend. Police say the assault occurred late Saturday on Colonel By Drive between approximately 11 p.m. and midnight. The suspect is described as a white or Indigenous male, over 6 feet tall with acne scarring on his cheeks and facial hair, possibly a mustache. He has a medium build and is English-speaking with no accent. He was last seen travelling by foot with a black backpack, a black jacket and a baseball cap. He is also known to smoke, police say. “Investigators believe there were multiple vehicles travelling through the area at the time, as well as potential pedestrian traffic,” police said in a news release Monday evening. Police are asking anyone who may have been driving along Colonel By Drive at the time and has dash cam footage or anyone who was in the area who may have witnessed the incident, to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 5944, or email saca@ottawapolice.ca and reference case number 26-81161.
