Ottawa police are putting out a renewed appeal for witnesses and information pertaining to the deaths of two men from Toronto who were killed outside a wedding at the Infinity Convention Centre in 2023. On Sept. 2, 2023, Said Mohamed Ali, 26, and Abdishakur Abdi-Dahir, 29, were killed in a shooting outside the convention centre on Gibford Drive at approximately 10:21 p.m. Six others were injured in the shooting. Police later said the victims of the shooting were not the intended targets. On July 5, 2024, Adam Abdullahi Elmi was killed in a shooting at Hampton Park Plaza, and police said the incident was connected to the wedding shooting. “Since the incident, investigators have followed up on all available leads, reviewed video footage, collected forensic evidence, and reached out to the community,” police said in a statement. “Investigators have also spoken with witnesses who were willing to provide statements.” No arrests have been made in the deaths of Ali and Abdi-Dahir, and the investigation continues. Investigators would like to speak to those with information that could help the investigation who have not yet spoken to police.
