The Ottawa Police Service is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect and tracking down jewelry after a smash-and-grab robbery at the Bayshore Shopping Centre last month. The robbery happened at around 9:40 a.m. on March 23. Police say a man entered the store, smashed a cabinet and stole jewelry. Some of the items are traceable and might show up for sale online, police said. The suspect is described as Black, between 18 and 25 years old, and approximately 130 to 150 lbs (59 to 68 kg). At the time of the incident, he was wearing a green hoodie with ‘Five Boroughs” written in white print on the front, sunglasses with brightly coloured frames, black pants and a backpack. Anyone who purchased or who knows of rings or jewelry with tags that are being offered for sale on local internet markets, or who can identify the suspect, is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Robbery Unit at 613-236-1222 extension 5116.
