New statistics from the Ottawa Police Service show a decline in the number of collisions at the city’s most dangerous intersection in 2025. According to data current up to Dec. 13, Ottawa police say there were 87 collisions at the intersection of Hunt Club Road and Riverside Drive in 2025, down from 96 between January and December 2024. Other notorious intersections saw slight increases in the number of crashes. There were 54 collisions at Blair and Ogilvie roads this year, in line with 2024 statistics. Fifty collisions were reported at Greenbank Road and Strandherd Drive in 2025, up from 45 the year prior, while the intersection of Baseline Road and Woodroffe Avenue saw 49 collisions, up from 48. Police said there have been 19,345 reported collisions across the city as of Dec. 13, up from 19,030 in the same period in 2024. Twenty-one collisions in Ottawa were fatal, 10 of which involved pedestrians and three of which involved cyclists. There were 179 collisions linked to alcohol- or drug-impaired driving in Ottawa, as of Dec. 13, down from 218 in 2024. In a post on social media, police urged drivers to be careful and sober, also attributing 707 collisions to snowy or icy roads. “Winter roads can be unpredictable. Extra caution goes a long way,” police said. “Let’s keep our community safe this holiday season. Drive safe. Drive sober.”
