Ottawa police investigating November discovery of human remains, note case of suspected homicide

The Ottawa Police Service says it is awaiting DNA results after human remains were discovered near Greely last fall, not far from the home of a man who has been missing since 2019.

Police issued a news release Tuesday that said remains were discovered near Rideau Road and Albion Road on Nov. 8, 2025.

“Following an examination, the remains have been confirmed to be those of an adult male,” police said Tuesday.

“At this time, investigators are awaiting DNA analysis in hopes of determining the individual’s identity. This process is ongoing, and further updates will be provided when available.”

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the homicide unit at 613-236-1222, extension 5493.

Man missing since 2019 lived nearby

The news release made special note of the case of Corey Baldwin, who has not been seen since 2019 and is believed to have been murdered.

Last December, police offered a $75,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case of Baldwin’s disappearance.

Police earlier said investigators believed Baldwin might have travelled to B.C. before he was reported missing, but in Tuesday’s release, noted the remains that were discovered in November were found near Baldwin’s home, though police did not directly confirm a link.

“Mr. Baldwin was last seen at his residence in Greely, Ontario, a short distance from where the remains were located,” police said. “While there is currently no confirmed connection, investigators are exploring all possible leads.”

Baldwin was previously described by police as a white man, standing 5-foot-10, and weighing around 230 lbs, with a muscular build, grey and blue eyes, a shaved head, dirty blond/grey facial hair, and with multiple tattoos on his arms, back, and legs.

“Police are urging anyone with information related to this discovery, or regarding the disappearance of Corey Baldwin, to come forward,” Ottawa police said.
