The Ottawa Police Service says all the drivers they stopped during RIDE checks on Monday passed roadside tests. Four “Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere” locations were set up in Ottawa’s west end on Monday for 4/20, the annual date celebrating cannabis and cannabis culture. Police said they stopped 450 drivers and none of them was found to be impaired. “Thank you for driving sober and helping keep our roads safe,” police said. Earlier this month, Ottawa police said there had been a 27 per cent increase in the number of collisions related to driving while impaired by drugs or alcohol in the first three months of 2026, compared to the same time last year. Ottawa police issued 854 impaired driving charges in 2025, up from 2024’s total of 837.
