The Ottawa Police Service says officers arrested the same driver three times in one week, despite a licence suspension after the first arrest. On March 6, the driver was arrested at around 3:30 a.m. in the area of Woodroffe Avenue and Strandherd Drive. The individual was charged with impaired driving and drug possession, police said. The very next day, the same driver was caught driving in the area of Longfields and Paul Metivier drives at around 10 p.m. Police say he crashed into a tree. He was charged with driving while suspended and refusing to surrender his driver’s licence. Police said he was driving someone else’s vehicle, as his had been impounded earlier. On March 13, the driver was pulled over again at around 1 a.m. in the area of Woodroffe Avenue and Meadowlands Drive, this time for speeding. Police say he was recorded going 91 km/h in a 60 km/h zone. He was charged this time with speeding, impaired driving, and driving while suspended. Police impounded the vehicle and the driver was held for a court hearing. “Impaired driving is one of the most serious risks on our roads,” Ottawa police said in a post on X. “If you suspect impaired driving, call 911. One call can save a life.”
