The Ottawa Police Service say a man and a woman were arrested on Saturday following a string of vehicle thefts and break-ins across the city. Police were first contacted at 8:34 a.m. Saturday for a carjacking in the 200 block of West Hunt Club Road near Merivale Road. Police say two suspects threatened a driver with a knife and stole the driver’s car. The two suspects allegedly broke into a home in the west end a short time later, stole the homeowner’s car keys, and stole that car as well. The suspects then crashed in the east end of Ottawa, police said. A passing driver stopped to help, at which point the two allegedly stole that person’s car and drove away. The pair returned to the west end, where police say they broke into another home, and got into a fight with the homeowner, who suffered minor injuries. The man left the area, but the woman remained behind and was subsequently arrested when police arrived. The man was found and arrested a short time later. Police say charges are pending. The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Robbery Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 5116, or email robbery@ottawapolice.ca.
