The Ottawa Hospital is encouraging patients to arrive at the General Campus 45 minutes before a scheduled appointment, due to a reduction in parking spaces. Repair work began last week on the parking garage at the General Campus on Smyth Road, which will reduce parking capacity for patients. “The repairs are expected to be ongoing until December 2025. This will reduce parking capacity, and will result in delays for those parking onsite,” the Ottawa Hospital said in a statement on Facebook. “If you plan to drive to an appointment at the General Campus, we encourage you to arrive up to 45 minutes before your appointment.” The Ottawa Hospital General Campus includes the Cancer Centre and the Rehabilitation Centre. In April, CTV News Ottawa reported patients and visitors were raising concerns about parking availability at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus. The hospital told CTV News Ottawa’s Dave Charbonneau it was continuing to find “innovative solutions” to parking challenges at the hospital. “To support staff and improve access for patients and visitors, we are adding staff parking spaces to off-site locations near the General Campus that will be serviced by regular shuttles, freeing up more on-site parking for patients and visitors,” the hospital said in a statement. “We are continuing to increase parking capacity and find solutions to balance the needs of our patients, visitors, staff and physicians.”
