Ontario Provincial Police in Hawkesbury say they’ve arrested three individuals in relation to multiple police impersonation frauds. According to a news release, officers responded a reported fraud at a home in Hawkesbury on Thursday afternoon. Police say the victim had received a phone call from someone identifying himself as a police officer and alleging that the victim’s bank cards were compromised. Later, a woman showed up to the victim’s home to collect the cards for “security purposes.” The victim later found that their cards had been used to withdraw money at several locations. Police said a woman matching the suspect’s description had used the credit cards at a bank in Clarence-Rockland. Officers found her in a vehicle with two men and arrested all three. The three suspects have been held for bail. Police ask anyone with information relating to police impersonation frauds to contact the Russell County OPP detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
