Ontario Provincial Police say they issued over 40 tickets in a three-day commercial vehicle blitz in southeastern Ontario. According to a news release from police, officers inspected 293 commercial vehicles at the Lansdowne port of entry between July 14 and July 16. Police say 23 out-of-service defects were found and four vehicles were towed after being found unsafe to operate. Police issued 44 provincial offence notices, including violations related to major vehicle defects, false daily logs, hours of service, performance standards, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, careless driving and distracted driving. OPP say the operation was undertaken in collaboration with the Canada Border Services Agency and the Ministry of Transportation.
