OPP identify 5 victims in investigation into intimate partner violence, child abuse in eastern Ontario

A 26-year-old man is now facing 63 charges in connection with an investigation into intimate partner violence and child abuse in eastern Ontario.

Ontario Provincial Police officers with the Leeds County Detachment launched an investigation on Friday, Sept. 26 in the Rideau Lakes area.

Police said on Tuesday that five victims have been identified as part of the investigation.

In September, police said the suspect was facing 14 charges, including attempted murder, sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age causing bodily harm, sexual interference, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, assault and uttering threats.

On Tuesday, the OPP said the suspect is now facing 63 charges, including 12 counts of assault causing bodily harm, six counts of assault with a weapon, 16 counts of uttering threats and two counts of intimidation.

“The name of the accused cannot be released in order to protect the identity of the victims,” the OPP said.

Police said the accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Brockville in February.
