One person was taken to hospital Wednesday afternoon following a head-on crash near Bruce Pit, according to Ottawa paramedics. The crash happened on Cedarview Road at around 3:30 p.m. Ottawa Fire Services says one of the drivers was trapped and firefighters removed the driver’s side door to free her. “Once access was achieved, crews began assessing and treating the driver’s injuries and applied spinal precautions prior to removal,” said Ottawa Fire Services public information officer Nick DeFazio in a post on social media. “The driver was safely extricated and transferred into the care of Ottawa Paramedics.” The other driver was not injured, DeFazio said. According to Ottawa Paramedic Service superintendent of public information Marc-Antoine Deschamps, one woman was taken to hospital in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries. DeFazio said firefighters applied absorbent material to leaking fluids and cleared debris from the roadway before clearing the scene at 4:05 p.m.
