Transit riders will have more time to complete their trip home during the afternoon commute, as OC Transpo extends the transfer window to 105 minutes this spring. Some councillors have raised concerns that the current 90-minute transfer window wasn’t long enough for commuters heading home during the afternoon commute, citing the current bus availability, traffic delays and construction. OC Transpo staff told the transit committee on Thursday that starting March 2, the weekend afternoon peak transfer period will be 105 minutes starting at 3 p.m. “Commuters will have more time to complete their afternoon commute,” a staff presentation said. The 105-minute transfer window after 3 p.m. will be in effect until the O-Train West extension to Algonquin College and Moodie Drive opens. The current transfer window is 90 minutes between 6:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., and 105 minutes between 6 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. and 2:45 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. Red light camera infractions Dozens of OC Transpo bus drivers were caught running red lights on Ottawa roads in 2025. The report shows 45 tickets were issued to OC Transpo drivers for red light infractions last year, down from 47 in 2024.
