O-Train Lines 2 and 4 will be out of service the weekend of June 13 and 14 for maintenance activities. OC Transpo general manager Rick Leary announced Friday morning that Lines 2 and 4 will be fully closed for the weekend, and replacement bus service will run along the north-south route. Line 2 runs between Bayview and Limebank stations, while Line 4 is the spur that runs between South Keys Station and the Ottawa Airport. Leary says the closure will allow crews to “undertake several planned maintenance activities.” “Proactive maintenance is a best practice on every major rail line and supports the long-term sustainability of the rail system in order to ensure the system continues to operate safely and smoothly for customers.” Leary said. “Multiple maintenance activities have been coordinated to occur over the weekend, including an end-to-end track inspection which requires a full line closure. This work will also take place on a weekend when ridership is lower to minimize the disruption for customers as much as possible.” R2 bus service will operate between Bayview and Limebank stations at a frequency of every 12 minutes. Route 105 service will replace Line 4, with service every 15 minutes. The shutdown of Lines 2 and 4 will come the same week OC Transpo restores double-car service on O-Train Line 1 for the first time since January. OC Transpo and Rideau Transit Maintenance reduced service to single-car trains after a spalling issue was discovered on an axle bearing assembly. A 100,000 km/h limit has been imposed on all axle bearing assembly units.
