No one was hurt after a fire at a commercial garage in Gatineau, Que., on Tuesday, the second major commercial fire in as many days in the city. Gatineau fire officials said in a news release that the blaze broke out at the Louis Guay garage on boulevard Labrosse at around 5:40 p.m. Nearly 60 firefighters were called to the blaze, which was not declared under control until about nine hours later. Firefighters encountered smoke and flames when they first arrived at the scene, and the fire required the use of high-capacity cannons. Damage was limited to the garage, the fire department said. On Monday, a fire broke out at an industrial complex on rue Saint-Louis, which required 50 firefighters and took nearly 16 hours to fully control. No one was hurt. Gatineau police say while Wednesday’s garage fire is not being investigated, an investigation into the cause and circumstances of the rue Saint-Louis commercial fire is underway.
