The Ottawa Mission’s chef Ric Watson is opening a second Chef Ric’s restaurant next month at the Taggart Family YMCA. Chef Ric’s is part of the Ottawa Mission’s food services training program, teaching people the skills to work in the restaurant industry. The first Chef Ric’s location opened in 2021 at 384 Rideau St., the home of the former Rideau Bakery, serving “healthy food, affordable catering, and a job training program for men and women looking to change their lives.” On Monday, Chef Ric’s confirmed a second location will open at the YMCA at 180 Argyle Ave. “Chef Ric’s and The YMCA have come together to bring healthy, affordable, and delicious food to even more members of our community,” a post on Facebook said. “This partnership embodies our shared commitment to well-being and community support.” Doors open Sept. 3 and 11 a.m.
