A motorcyclist speeding 60 km/h over the speed limit was one of several drivers stopped by police on Ottawa-area highways on Wednesday night. “Ottawa OPP had an eventful evening last night,” OPP Const. Michael Fathi said on X. “Several drivers received multiple charges.” Fathi said a motorcyclist was observed going 170 km/h on Highway 416 on Wednesday night. The speed limit on Highway 416 is 110 km/h. The driver was charged with stunt driving, which includes a 30-day license suspension and the motorcycle impounded for 14 days. Two vehicles were stopped for speeding 140 km/h on Ottawa highways. Fathi said another driver stopped for speeding on Hwy. 417 “registered an Alert on a roadside screening device and was found to be operating a vehicle without insurance.” “That driver had their licence suspended roadside for seven days and also faced a minimum $5,000 fine for operating a vehicle without insurance,” Fathi said. “If you plan to consume alcohol or drugs, don’t drive. Plan for a safe ride home.”
